Who is Ayabonga Booi?
Ayabonga, known as MrBooi within our team, is an experienced mobile developer who adopted Flutter back in 2019. Significantly, a passionate builder and problem solver, MrBooi is driven by his unequivocal love for creating things. As his skill sets continue to grow in frontend and backend development, MrBooi’s determination has him firmly setting his sights on solutions architecture.
Moving from his previous position as a mobile Flutter developer, MrBooi joined the 20fifty team in August 2020. A teacher at heart, MrBooi (Ayabonga Booi) also coaches high school students in coding. MrBooi also holds a qualification in Data Science from HyperionDev. Backed by his qualifications in full-stack web development, and a high school education that focused on STEM, MrBooi puts his skills to the test every day…and succeeds. His diverse programming skills traverse platforms and languages, including: Flutter, Dart, NodeJS, JavaScript, Typescript, ExpressJS, React, Python, Java, MongoDB, Firebase, PostgreSQL, GO, and more.
Testing and Tenacity
His impressive portfolio of skills may set MrBooi apart from his peers, but it’s his tenacity that truly puts him streaks ahead of the pack. MrBooi is also renowned for his quiet approach, as he outlines: “I don’t say much, because my work speaks for itself.” Combining that with his passion for testing and trialing new tools, MrBooi always brings new ideas and tools to the team to review. In a recent internal demo, MrBooi showcased the ins and outs of RiverPod. RiverPod is a state management library that catches programming errors during compile sessions, rather than at runtime. RiverPod also removes nesting for listening or combined objects and ensures that all code is fully testable.
RiverPod Demo
During his internal demo, MrBooi took the team through RiverPod’s functionality, with a view towards accelerating our production processes. His demo assessed whether RiverPod could streamline our processes even more, to produce scalable code that can be tested at speed. Building a quiz app that generated random questions, MrBooi’s demo automatically gave out true or false responses. Outlining how RiverPod could help to enhance code coverage, and cut down on development time in terms of code generation, his demo had the team excited by the potential opportunities that further utilising RiverPod could unlock.
